A Rare U.S. Gold Coin Valued at $15 millions Found in a Closet

us double eagle gold coinAn Egyptian couple accidentally found a U.S. double eagle coin that, according to experts, may be worth $15 million. The Qatar Ar-Raya newspaper mentioned that the couple found the coin while cleaning their flat from old clothes and other needless things.

The extremely rare and very precious gold coin was discovered in an old box that some time ago was in possession of Mohamed Ismail's grandfather. Mohamed and his wife, Fatima, found the box when throwing away broken furniture as well as some old clothes from the closet, where the box was hidden.

After finding the gold double eagle coin, Mohamed decided to send it to experts with the hope that he would receive a few extra dollars for it. When the coin was examined, the tailor was shocked to hear from experts that the coin, which his grandfather left him, was in fact a historical value. Such double eagle gold coins were minted for the first time back in 1850. These coins were used for clearing the accounts between banks as well as other financial institutions.

Experts consider that the double eagle gold coin discovered in Egypt might be a part of Theodore Roosevelt's 1933 collection of coins, which were redesigned by the well-known American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens and then offered as a present to King Farouk of Egypt.

Doubtful, The coin this article is referring to has already been "discovered" and sold for 7.5 million a few years ago and it is doubtful that if it did come back up for sale that it would reach that price. There may be other coins from the Farouk collection to be found in closets in Egypt, but not of that valu4e
